True, but don't think for a moment that there aren't people out there, some of whom you would be surprised by, who would love to change all of that. But gun control is a different issue, so I will speak no more of it.

Yorick, if I had to align myself with a political party it would be the Republican party. I am, however, in favor of American Democracy as it was originally intended to be. Americans are so off, why don't we just say what we mean? Shouldn't we just have a Democratic (Republican now) party and a Socialist (Democrat now) party? Wouldn't that be better? But you are correct: I am quite liberal in my views about Democracy as it should (in my opinion) be. I suppose, also, that I see your point about quibbling over semantics. The word "liberal" DOES have a stigma about it. Perhaps you are right as well that liberal should not mean Democrat, but it seems to now-a-days.

LOL, all the gun control I am in favor of is tighter control on assault weapons. And, by the way, I remember a time that we had Liberal Democrats, Conservative Democrats, mostly Southern, Liberal Republicans (the Ripon Society), and, of course, Conservative Republicans. That is what LBJ meant when he told Bill Moyers, after signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964, that the Democrats had lost the South "for a generation." It's looking more like two, going on three. But, the South was then known as "the Solid South," for the way that it always voted Democratic. I remember, too, how amazed everyone was when a Republican was elected Governor of Texas, "for the first time since Reconstruction." Noe, every single statewide office is held by the GOP, also, "for the first time since Reconstruction."

Nothing wrong with a bit of control on automatic weapons, regular people have no need of them; but criminals will still have them...they still have drugs don't they?

Politics is confusing...ain't it?

Well, I was with you up to the last statement. Have you ever listened to Michael Savage on AM radio? Perfect example of an "independent" who does nothing but bash liberals, calling us racist perverts with no brains. He is very conservative in all his political, social, and personel views.
Well, I can't say I've heard of the fellow. [/QUOTE]Oh the horror of it all! I've posted a double quote! Sorry guys, it wouldn't make sense any other way.

Gregster, you can here Michael Savage on NewsTalk Radio 990AM. I'm a Republican and I think he is an ASS, with big ole capital letters! Can't personally stand the guy and I don't see why is is so popular on Talk Radio. I'd rather listen to Liddy. He's much more entertaining! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
