I found SimCity too hard. Age of Empires, Age of Kings, and Starcraft are all good games too, but if you like strategy then you'll probably have them all. Half-Life is a good first person shooter, and Team Fortress is lots of fun.

Let me see...

1.) Fallout 1 & 2 (good/excellent - depends on your taste)

2.) Planescape:Torment (excellent)

3.) IWD 2 (good, according to the review from Gamespot)

4.) Arcanum (not bad)

BG was soooo good, I'm afraid all else will pale in comparison. However, I'm sure that's not the case and there are some pretty good RPGs out there.

Online is out of the question with 56K modem (tell me I'm wrong).
Looked at NWN but heard some pretty bad reviews.
Played demo disk of Icewind Dale - pretty good but less character options than BG.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
NWN Has gotten nothing but 9+ /10 ratings from ALL the major PC Mag's and Online Sites. TRUST me, go get NWN, it's TOTALLY awesome!

Who ever said NWN was bad is on crack

If you are into retro gaming, get an Amiga emulator. It had some of the best RPGs ever. Titles to look into include:

All the early Ultimas
Eye of the Beholder 1 + 2
Bloodwych
Dungeoun Master
My personal fav- Black Crypt
Ishar 1 - 3

Plus heaps more.

Check it out!

ok i'll suggest my personal fav's
i'd guess you'll already have Throne of Bhaal being such a BG2 fanatic so i won't suggest that.

morrowind is a great game, loads of gameplay and great fun

Deus Ex is amazing. its my favorite game of all time. i've played though twice even though its more the kind of game to play though only once (not so many side quests just lots of ways to complete each missions)

Dungeon siege is ok if you want a no-brainer run kill run kill kinda game. loads of people like it but if you like BG2 that much (like me ) i woyuldn't suggest this game

NWN is also good even though i've only really just started playing.

The Final Fantasy series is great. i've played final fantasy 7 for over 450 hours. its one of the greatest games i've ever played plot wise and the char upgrade system is fun

if you want a really sick game you could download Thrill Kill like my brother did. the game was never comercially released for the playstation and has such characters as "The Imp"-a midget on stilts and a guy holding a severed leg and wearing an "I love barbique" apron

i can't really think of any other games right now

As Ziroc pointed out, NWN is awesome! My computer can't REALLY handle it (40 meg low on RAM and a piece of sh** vid card) and I still play it! Ok, some areas I can't even access because I don't have enough memory but I play anyways! It's THAT good. Can't wait until I can actually get the toolset to run...

I need to upgrade my computer
