Has anyone heard of this great man and his books? They are the funniest things I have ever read. Just wanted to see if I am the only person to have heard of him and read his stuff really.

Nice one Mouse. Dare I ask which ones? If you have read much of his stuff you will be probably the only person on here to understand my name.

If anyone wants to check out his stuff I think there is a bit of it posted on his fansite www.sproutlore.com

Very, very funny. Particularly the biography on there (the wierd one, not the serious one).

To Barry and his Mouse friend, I happen to live 8 minutes from the heart of where the 'Trilogy' books are set, namely Brentford. The gentleman Rankin, is a scholar and has a fine eye for detail. The square where the professor(?) character lives, is real and truly feels as if it has dimension doored its way into the otherwise grim surroundings. The two main lads can be found at either end of the high street on most days, and indeed the mission where the sea captain lives, (excuse my lack of accuracy - its been a few years since i read these books) also stands there for real. Amazing tales about a truly warped place. A friend of mine approached the author a few years back about writing a screen play - and subsequently had to trace the area road by road, pub by pub. He said it matched pretty well to the book.

That is truly a memorable way to start your first post, Puddifoot Kinda reminds me of a story about Richard Gere.........

May you enjoy your stay in this unique corner of cyberspace
