Word came to the Headquarters of the Order of the Sacred Heart of Lathander that Lady Galadria's body was found lying in the wilderness, badly decomposed. There was no sign that the body was despoiled, though there was no sign of her horse. Sir Odo dispached his squire to recover the body, and she was buried beside her father, in the Order Chapel, with the following epitaph: Galadria, Foebanus Filiae, Abtaeret.

As the cold winds of the coming winter blew the last of the oak leaves from their desparate grasp to the cemetary grounds...a figure, wrapped warmly in his trench coat, made his way to the marked grave-site. Reading the words aloud, he nearly could not finish as his throat constricted and made it difficult to keep his composure.

"Alas, Lady in Pink...your end has caught up with you, and here you are. Such a tragic loss for my world. What happened? Who has laid the killing blow? Who wounded you to the heart?"

The question was rhetorical. He knew the dead were not inclined to converse with the living, unless a specialist priest was summond to force the spirit to talk.

From his coat, Larry produced a single pink rose, and tossed it upon the grave. Turning from the grave, he looked West, where the sun was riding low in the horizon. Another half hour, and darkness will take the land.

In the gathering darkness, a pair of mounted figures enter the chapel. They, too lay roses on the freshly-sealed tomb. The larger of the two pulls his cloak back from his face, revealing the countenance of Sir Blandamour of the Iron Arm. A single tear starts from his eye, unacknowleged by him. "Alas, Galadria," he says in a ragged tone, "I knew and liked you well. May you have peace, wherever you have gone." He turns and strides away.

Larry watched the two ride away. Turning back to the resting place of the Lady, he bowed low, turned, and departed.

It did not surprise him that Attalus had not seen him. The Mad Modding Mage of Ironworks was no longer a part of this forum. His body had been destroyed, and all that existed of the evil tyrant was memory and dark whisperings. A wraith of no consequence to anybody. Well...almost nobody. There was always hope to be found in those that seek him...

ELIZA *The smaller of the two figures remained yet awhile after her large companion had turned to go. She remained hooded, but a single shaft of starlight came through the stained-glass window and caught for a second the twin glints of a red lock of hair that had escaped from her hood, and a white stone on the third finger of her left hand, which still held the flowers that she had brought, violets, as Galadria had ever worn on her visor when she could find them. As she leaned forward to place the flowers on the small votive shelf where the other two tributes lay, she felt the ghost of an icy breath. Suspicious, she glanced around, but saw only the dark.* Sleep well, stainless one, she then whispered.

ooc- does this mean no more Hazardous Times?

A figure casts shadows upon the already darkened cemetery as it passes overhead. Moments later, 2 figures walk diffidently up to the new grave. One, a tall man with straight spiked silver hair and pure mercury eyes set in a handsome face, wearing dark gray breeches and a bland shirt, the other a short woman swathed in a black cloak trimmed with silver. Pulling back her hood, revealed the smooth face and small pointed ears of a half-elf, with a small tiara set in red brown hair that fell much like the cloak to the smalls of her back. Verloren glanced at the woman and immediatley recognized her as Eliza, the squire who had aided in her escape from Kinn'zuwanik. Scrubbing her already red-rimmed dry eyes, Verloren gave her a weak smile before dropping to her knees at the grave,

"Lady Galadria...it is Verloren..." she voice was tight with constricted emotion, and she reached into her cloaks and pulled out a soft pink rose, laying it next to the other 3, "I never did properly thank you for saving me from the dragon..." tears leaked from her eyes before she could stop them, and did not bother to wipe them away, "You were the bravest woman I ever met, and likely ever will," a smile shone through her tears, "I did depose of my father and set my kingdom back in order; I could not have done it without your help," she stood, "May you finally find peace, my lady," a presence of something watching tickled her shoulder blades, and she glanced around, seeing none other then Eliza. Sometimes the dead did not really sleep. She gave Eliza a hug, "I must seek out Alliene, farewell...Avalon?" the man stepped back and an Ancient silver dragon stood in his place, standing carefuly so as not to step on any graves. He leaped up and flapped his powerful wings hovering, then let Verloren climb into his paws. Moments later, they dissapeared among the clouds.

Garnet stood quietly in the shadows, sorrow and regret mingling across her face as she watched the others paying respect to Galadria. Naught but kindness and aid had ever been gifted to the rangeress from the good Lady. On silent feet, she left the chapel to return to the trees and their solace...

Riding a horse that would make a Clydesdale seem a mere pony, an equally huge man climbed off his mounts back. he was a tall man, more than 6 1/2 feet in height, his dark beard was neatly trimmed, for the first time since Keldorns Order had disbanded after the trials of the Mod Mage, his armor newly cleansed, the embossed kingfishers and herons on his suit of armor shone in hues of red in the fading light, with his great helm in hand the proud knight walked up to the tomb and tenderly ran his hand across the epitaph, a single tear running down his face. He turned around and returned to Clonin, opening a specially enchanted saddlebag, and removed a decanter of brandy, Lady Galadria's favorite from the Order and set it down respectfully near the roses.

The gift he hoped would show more reverence than he could with any other gift, since he was nauseated by the smell of any alcohol, and he hoped that if Galadria was watching that she would remember this and look kindly on his last offering.

Brushing away another tear Sir Morguerat climbed atop Clonin's back and with a slight prod from his heels sped away into the gathering darkness.

In the night, another man came to the chapel. The sword he bore lit the way with a golden light. Stepping carefully - lest his muddy, mailed feet wake the resting souls here - he made his way to the grave. In silence he stood, and looked upon the tombstone, the roses.
"Well, there she is, dead." a somewhat bored voice came from the sword. "Can we go now?"
"No."
Slowly - with a slight creak frm his rusty armour - he bent down on one knee, holding his head close to the earth of Galadria's resting place. He stared intently at the dark earth, still as a statue.
"What exactly are you looking for, holy-boy?"
A twinge of emotion broke the man's voice. "I... don't know. I..."
"Who was she, anyway?"
Tancred breathed out, heavily. "A Paladin, a heroine... her story is one of tragedy and enduring adversity. A legend, even now."
"Greater than ours?"
The man could not help but smile sadly at the hint of shocked pride in the blade's words. "Aye, Karnas. That she was."
He got to his feet, walking slowly to the tombstone.
"'You see Galadria, daughter of Foebanus'? My classical is not good."
"Something like that," comments the sword.
Tancred shakes his head. "Damn it..."
"What?"
"This... this isn't right..."
A smewhat softer note enters the sword's mocking tones. "All things pass on, boy. Her. You. Even me... possibly."
"No." Tancred's mouth tightened. "We are Paladins. We are heroes... we are not made for death. As long as there is evil... there is us. Surely that is how it should be?"
The sword snorts derisively. "Those who the Gods love, die young, boy."
It is Tancred's turn to stifle a bitter laugh. "That makes sense. I am still here..."
With care, the knight draws another rose - or at least, what once must have been a rose - from his pack. A small paper label still hangs from it - 'one penny'. The flower is crushed and the stem is bent, and as Tancred holds it up to look at it a few petals falls to the floor. The young knight looks at it ruefully.
"I'm sorry about this, Lady," he says to the darkness. "This is all I have."
With exaggerated care, the young man places the dilapidated rose upon the grave, and turns to leave.
Karnas tuts.
"Waste of a good penny. It's not like we knew her. Why did you do that?"
"Because it should be done," the young man snaps back. "and because I wanted to."
The pair walk on, out, back into the darkness.
