Darkest Day, Tactics, Ascension etc...

DD and these mods are kicking my behind!!! I just started yesterday but I am having a very very tough time in Chateau Irenicus. I am going to have to use strategy and tactics to get out of this dungeon and I may have to just sneak past a few fights. Having fun and recommend mods to those who have not tried them.

Tactics isn't even funny at the beginning. Assuming you've installed all of the components, Improved... well, suffice to say, he'll give you quite a lot of trouble.

Note: Avoiding one of the two of my favorite spoilers just made my day.

I installed everything. I am looking forward to the surprises and struggles ahead but have only fought a few dwarven combat teams so far. If you're implying a very difficult enemy ahead I may have to just sneak past because even these dwarven grunts are a big problem for my team.

I have to admit... I'm playing tactics for the first time (Hard difficulty) with a multi-created party, and I'm having a reasonably difficult time too... it's quite entertaining, though.

Gherbod, let me know of any hints you come up with in your travels around CI

I will just say this: For some components of Tactics (and not even the one you're in right now), you will discover that EVERYTHING is fair. Project Image, Nature's Beauty, Mislead . . . . don't be afraid to ramp that cheese all the way to the hilt, because there are some situations where you WILL need it. There are many Tactics components that Weimer himself would not play--and I suspect, some components that he never even seriously tested.

It's been a while since I touched the game, but from what I know of the mods... just remember the following rule of thumb.

In over 90% of the mods, the AI is coded in such a way that it will aim at your PC at all cost, even if it kills them.

SwordCoast Strategems fot Tutu/BGT and SwordCoast Strategems II for BG2 SoA/ToB definitely change this. It is no longer healthy to be a spellcaster, or to take one on, supremely confident that they will not use thier resources.... and it is customaizable, too, so if you find yourself being thrashed you can adjust. Both mods are over on G3.
