What would be the best stats/skills to choose (and when) for this character?
What sort of levels should I select to go up in first? I'm also considering some form of monk/weaponmaster crossover... would this work?

The thing is you will be streching your attribute points to thinly.
For your monk you will need a high wisdom and high strenght(or dex). And for a sorcerer you need high charisma and for a mage high intelligence. don't get me wrong it is do able howver you won't be strong in any areas. Your Spell DC will be low and you waon't be able to damage much with your fists or havea high AC from your monk wsdom bonus. If you want a spell caster to be part of your monk build go with a cleric. This is because both classes will benifit from your high wisdom. By the way you can not choose fists as you weaponmaster weapon (you can do this with kamas though) Hope this helps you with your decission.

Kamas are a monk weapon. So you can take weapon focus in the wepon and have it as your chosen weapon when taking the Weapon master class.
Instead of fighting with your fists you would be fighting with kamas. You still get the same attacs per round with the kama as you would with your fists.

What about a barbarian/monk combo?
Wouldnt that be quite effective (and ever so slightly fast!!!)? EDIT: How would a half-orc of this combo compare to a human variant? [ 12-01-2004, 01:41 AM: Message edited by: Dace De'Briago ] |

This would probably be pretty good, but since monks have to be lawful and barbarians can't be, you would have to find some way to flip flop your alignment.

Yeah you will run into an alignment conflict with that combo.
A Half orc Monk is good as it will benefit from a high strength score.

Yeah you do loose stunning fist.
A Monk/Cleric is a good combo. High AC using your wisdom when in robes, good buffing spells, quick, will have an OK DC due to the high wisdom. The same goes for a Monk/Druid when combining classes you need to look to what skills will complement each other. Why do you think that you see so many sorc/paladins running around the place.

This is actually one of my favorites
note what I've written here: http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cg...c;f=7;t=002717 This was written with SOU in mind, so it will obviously change with more levels. Additionally it was written for a sorcerer as the primary attack method. If you want to take the build to higher levels and desire more "pounding-power" then consider 10 levels of RDD to increase your strength. If you work it right from the beginning you could have devistating critical at epic levels. |
