Saz,

You can always check some on-line places like http://www.anandtech.com or http://www.tomshardware.com for reviews of different components.

Just a note about BestBuy.com. I shop their real store often. I tried ordering IWD and HOW on-line. Both were back ordered. Every time I check the order status, I got "in processing" After waiting 6 weeks, I tried to cancel my order and the staff told me that the computer had locked them out of the account and that they couldn't cancel it. In the end it was a major pain in the rear and the order did get cancelled. Of course I had bought my games elsewhere in the meantime.

Try http://www.sysopt.com/userreviews/index.html for reviews of different sound cards and what real people thought of them. And if ordering on-line I usually check http://www.resellerratings.com (although for BestBuy.com I didn't).

Good Luck.

I like Best Buy only IRL. I've got a uber-store nearby, and they've got EVERYTHING...

I get my reviews from http://www.arstechnica.com/
good stuff
