Well, in my other thread, HT hinted that he would enjoy an SW roleplay on the forum. I am happy to comply....
This is the sign-up thread. The campaign will be set around 50 years before The Phantom Menace. The level of technology is roughly the same as the prequel movies, and all types of characters are available. I would prefer to run a good character campaign, unless you all overwhelmingly say otherwise... Mostly, though, I want to emphasize that this is open to anyone, even people who don't know much about Star Wars---I can help with that (PM me to bounce ideas off of me, and whatnot). To sign up, state the character name, what they do for a living and what their special talents are. Let's make them high-average people, as far as skill level goes. I do not intend to use any particular stringent ruleset with this game, by the way, just a conceptual role-play. [ 04-30-2005, 02:46 PM: Message edited by: Ilander ]

Well, this is the first time that I've done an online roleplay, so as far as comparing the pace that I plan...
Ideally, I would like to update as often as possible...and I'll try to keep the action manageable. I am on here all the time, though, so I'll be able to respond to nearly every post in my time zone.

I'm not really a huge fan of this, but as the others said, I may be interested depending on the pace. I'd probabaly play a Nautolan.

...What pace do you all want? Let's use specifics.
For instance, I will start. STORY INTRODUCTION The characters will start on Coruscant 50 years before the incidents at Naboo. The Galactic Senate has recently been debating issues of planetary security, in which many systems are to be disarmed, their home-defense forces reduced, or, in some cases, completely disbanded. It is a time of peace in the galaxy, though there are a few wars that exist in the less-travled sectors. The Hutts, in particular, have had agents intercepted on Bothawui, provoking a inter-planetary incident of ever-increasing scope. These troubles, however, are all relatively minor, and the Senate continues to discuss the situations, despite the fact that it has been five months since the troubles started. Unfortunately, as all of this is going on, there have been troubling happenings on Coruscant itself. The first terrorist attacks in ten years have left thousands dead, and security is being drawn tighter and tighter. However, on a world of 4 trillion (4 000 000 000 000 for those who use the word differently), security cannot be the final answer. A real solution is needed. The PCs are being called from their various homes for their unique abilities, some for investigative abilities, others for the blatantly obvious military necessities, and still others because they have special people skills. They do not yet know why they have been gathered. Game Mechanics Characters have a few stats, determined by personal stat-point distribution, and gameplay point rewards (think experience). The stats are: Athleticism (a description of how well a character can run, jump, climb, etc) Speechcraft (measure's the character's persuasive ability, how well they can communicate, and how many languages they can speak [+1 for every point over 4]) Physical Occupational Skills (a measure of how well one can perform physical tasks related to one's occupation) Mental Occupational Skills (a measure of how well one can perform mental tasks related to one's occupation) Melee Combat Skills (a measure of how well a character can perform in melee combat with or without various weapons) Ranged Combat Skills (a measure of how well a character can perform in ranged combat, with various weapons) Force Skills (a measure of one's ability to use the Force) --------------------------------------------------------------- Force Sensitive characters start will 35 points to distribute amongst these categories. Non-Force sensitive characters start with 30, and cannot distribute them in the "Force Skills" stat. --------------------------------------------------------------- Sample Character: Zklang Tselim, human pilot from Umgul. (insert description here) Not Force-sensitive Ath: 6 Spch:4 POS: 7 MOS: 5 MCS: 3 RCS: 5 FS: 0 Health: 30 Force: n/a -------------------------------------------------------------- Note that a 4 is "proficient," a 3 is "deficient," and a 5 is "above-average." There is no upper limit on the statistics, though no stat may be zero. -------------------------------------------------------------- Force skills are limited by expending one "force point." A character has (force skill rating)x(5)x(level) Force Points per day. Health is (athletics ranking)x(5)x(level). If a character changes his/her athletics ranking, health for their level will be reevaluated using this formula. -------------------------------------------------------------- Level ups are simultaneous for all characters at key storyline points. Whenever the character levels up, they gain extra health/force points. Every other level up, the characters get an extra stat point to distribute as they wish. -------------------------------------------------------------- PM me any questions. Perhaps we should make it so that no one can have any score lower than one. LOL, sure it seems obvious, but you never know when someone will feel they need a stat of 25 in something.
Yeah ok, since we're mostly good, I guess no Sith characters, lol. I think a Ghent-ish character may be fun. What do ya think, Poo? |

Four interested so far, then. A "Ghent-ish" character would be just fine, Drew...but not the Sith. Unless you want him/her/it to just be killed off near-immediately, thanks to being on Coruscant.

I will post the actual game, soon. Within a day after I get some characters posted here, as a matter of fact.
