Describe Yourself in Four Words
You know, all this interviewing I've been doing has been quite a new experience. Each office I visit has a different vibe and different questions to fill out, etc.
Well, one particular job last week had me fill out a form that included me describing myself with 4 separate words. I dunno, I thought it kind of silly and it threw me off having to think of these words out of nowhere. So, if you were trying to get a job, and had to describe yourself in 4 words, what would they be? I'm just curious what other people would come up with. |

Re: Describe Yourself in Four Words
For a job-interview? Ambitious, driven, social and pro-active. I'm not saying it's true, but that's definately how I would present myself. I always use the same lines. ,,Well, I'm definately a social person, but I don't mind working by myself either.'' - ,,Yes, I'm very ambitious. But never at the expense of my co-workers.'' No matter what they want they hear, you can say it without contridicting yourself.

Re: Describe Yourself in Four Words
A lot of interviewers try to 'throw you off your guard' by asking goofy questions like that, along with the "what are your biggest weaknesses" questions.
Personally I don't think how quick someone thinks on their feet is particularly relevant for most jobs (although it some cases it might be appropriate). I tend to give pretty laid back interviews - try to get the candidate comfortable and let them ask as many questions as they have to answer. I've had 'rapid-fire' interviews in the past... I had fun with it but I think many would be stressed out. |

Re: Describe Yourself in Four Words
What I'd say would depend on the job I was trying to get.

Re: Describe Yourself in Four Words
I like yours Dreamer, ones I never thought of before. Maybe I'll use them if I find myself filling out that silly question again LOL.
Thoran, yes you are right! I really can't see how thinking up those four words off the bat has any relevance at all. Not to mention any person could lie and say they are responsible when they are not, etc. Oh and I got some sort of "What weaknesses were pointed out to you in your previous job" question. I replied none LOL. Hey it's true, nobody came to me, or pulled me aside, to tell me I was doing something inadequately, so there! Johnny, if there is a job out there that would appreciate that sort of answer, I don't know what it is LOL! Hey, maybe one of those reality shows that you mentioned that air in The Netherlands about people experimenting with alcohol and drugs. I.E., "Let's see how many beers Johnny can drink in one week," or "Let's see what happens to Johnny after 7 beers and five quick spins around while blindfolded," etc., that sort of thing. |

Re: Describe Yourself in Four Words
Hmm, I think I would stick with "no really - I'm sane".
Please don't spin Johnny after that many beers. At least, not on a carpeted floor. Puke is hell to wash out of some of them.

How about "test drinker"? Someone has to test if it's any good right? Might just as well be me, i happen to have great taste.
