Posting one or two things and forgetting about them is completely different then making a character, remembering his/her stats, as well as the campaign plot.

Keal - There are still people using it, the hardcore group if you like. You can't expect everyone to have the time/desire to take on such a roll, afterall, not posting is letting people down, so it is a commitment which may be viewed as a burden to some people.

Let me give a more detailed reply to this thread than the ones, which have already been given.

I am one of those, who still participate in the roleplay forum. What I have noticed during the last few months was the gradual decrease of the number of active games. While about three months ago, there were still about four-five active games going on, the last month it has basically been only Shadow of Love.

Even the "hardcore" players have had their real lives get busier, nearly all of those I have spoken to have been really busy these last few months. Being busy makes it hard to fully participate in more than one game. For the inner core of the roleplayers, those who have been roleplaying for years on Ironworks (if I'm not mistaken Shadow of Love is a game, which is more than three years old), Shadow of Love is their main game, and since it is a game with a lot of history, they tend to play in that one, if they only have the time to play one game.

Then there is the group of players, who are not so devoted to one game. These players usually await when a new game is created and then several of them sign up for it. At times it is the disappearance or loss of interest of the DM, which stops the game, at other times it is the players becoming bored with the game (doesn't necessarily mean that the DM had been doing a bad job).

I have seen a lot of games go down in the last few months, among them one of mine. Some of the games had a lot of potential, others less.

About the question you ask:

Quote:
How come no one really ever uses the online rpg section?
Well people still use the rpg section, but the activity has definitely slowed down.

The online RP sections was actually one of the first things that appealed to me when I signed up. Like D said, I waited for a new game to show up and signed up. Then, usually not even a month later, the DM no longer shows up and the game ends. I know I tried to start a game once, but it never took off (in retrospect, it might have helped if I spell-checked it).
