Thumbs Up Faster Firefox!!!!

I copied this from another site. I don't know how it works, but it does work!

Quote:
Faster Internet:

First if you have'nt already done it, please switch to firefox

Here are a few settings that increases the loading of pages in firefox bout 2-3 times faster...

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar & press Enter. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

2. Alter the entries as follows: Double clicking on the entries changes them

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

Now you'll load the pages 2-3 times faster now...

Running FF 2.0.0.7... all those were already set as defaults except network.http.pipelining.maxrequests, which was at the default of 8. It's now changed... thanks...

There is a server load issue with the max requests numbers. Say a small server like the here, if you are stealing 30 requests per hit, that means 29 other people *must* wait for your 30 requests to process. There should be a disclaimer of this anomaly somewhere within eye sight of where you borrowed that from. Just my

Felix is right, there is a reason why it was left out and it isn't really fair for some sites

There is a plugin called "fasterfox" which automatically adjusts some settings for you. Only the fastest option increases server load so you can opt to pick the one but fastest option.

Note also that not all servers support pipelining (particularly old ones), so don't be surprised if after you make those changes an odd site or two doesn't work.

I like Opera better. And the internet is working fast enough as it is, most of the time.
