i have a level 19-swashbuckler and must say that it´s the most potent character in BG2 i ever started a game with.
advantages:-thieving abilities -better combat abilities than other thieves -chaotic good...RULEZ!!! -doesn´t even need many HP´s -equipped with boots of speed, a swashbuckler is most effective (hit, run, hide) disadvantages:-no backstab(snif) -no heavy armor -if only i didn´t like jaheira that much, my party would be much more effective, but she´s a damn hard chick, isn´t she??? |

ok, here goes
. 1st character - Undead Hunter (Matthew Hopkins) - nice Armour Class, crap against dragons and beholders (didn't find the cloak of mirrors that time round) . 2nd character - evil half-orc Berserker (Slaughter Margin) - kicked everybody's butt. Berserking smacked down dragons (with Edwin as magical backup) - couldn't wear amulet vs level drain, so relied on clerics to keep the vampires at bay - berserk also stopped those irritating Imprisonment moments . 3rd character - elf Sorceror. weaknesses? naaah!! - well, maybe the highly Magic Resistant opponents - demons were a pain in the butt - very wipeout against enemy adventurer groups . 4th character - chicken fighter/magic-user/thief - got hit quite a few times earlier on. Hide in shadows doesn't work against demons, dragons, mist undead or gits with truesight. needed backup taking on boss-level monsters throughout the game |

My current PC is a pure ranger class. Half-Elf
(I also rolled for almost an hour to get these stats, bloody crazy...) Str 17 Dex 18 Con 18 Int 14 Wis 14 Cha 14 Chaotic good Racial enemy : demonic Lvl 12 so far, up to spellhold Positives: Dual weilding is the best, the best, and again, the best (Only rangers start with two in dual already, that makes 8 starting profciencies!) Got a few handy spells Stealth is great for a first attack The item you get from your stronghold quest is really great. Many advantages of a fighter Negatives: I don't think they have any ! ------------------ Yes indeed... |

Just finished soloing my elven Archer.
He is a tiny god The fantasy equivalent of a Marine sniper. Finished hell without losing a hitpoint. (see my other thread) disadvantages. - At level 29, I just wanted to end the game. It was no longer fun. I'm using the exp cap again... ------------------ The RudeDawg Known in these Forgotten Realms as Perin LightEyes and my girlfriends, Pamila and Phil |

Just wanted to tell that I also had a Wizard Slayer and I have never had problems with him wearing helmets. In fact, the Vhailor's one saved my life several times.
RudeDawg, that is exactly why I kept the cap ------------------ Mishik's Place |

I am having great fun as a simple mage. What I like about mage is that you have an array of options for each situation. I don't think stats are very important for a mage, except of course intelligence. Mage doesn't need mucho hitpoints or strength, that is, when you are not playing solo.
I am thinking of starting a new game playing an evil knevil, taking only Korgar and Viconia in my party. Probably be playing a mage again, or maybe a sorceror. |

Currently playing BG1 to carry into Bg2. Using a pure class fighter( yes another one, what's it to ya). Putting past experencies to good use.
stats: Strength- 199) Dexterity- 18 Constitution- 19 (found tome) Intelligence- 8 Wisdom- 8 Charisma- 12 has four proficiencies in blunt weapons and uses the warhammer +2 in preperation for using warhammers in BG2 as I hear there's this fairly powerful one in Bg2..... ------------------ Just when you thought it was safe to visit this board. |

Have 3 characters that I am having the most fun with right now. Female half-orc pure fighter, female Monk (so cool!) and my absolute fave -- Skizzer the Skald! He is a blast. He is level 16 (I think) right now and his song gives +4 THAC0 and Saving throws (unless I remember wrong) and we picked up the harp from Mekrath's altar in the Sewer that lets him confuse when necessary. His Lore value is unbelievable -- no spell slots needed by the mages to identify anything.
I would not want to solo a skald, but he sure is handy for Minsc and Keldorn and the gang. And he is getting pretty serious with Jaheira right now, too. He has it all! |

Well, I played a halfelf Fighter/Thief in BGI and he was outstanding, not so great in BGII though, my favorite now is a human Kensai/Mage.
Started with a Kensai, let her reach tenth level, dualclassed to a Mage. Equip her with Staff of Magi, Spear of Piersing and bracers of defence AC4. Result: Depending on memoriced spells. Either: A Mage with Incredible hitpoints, able to defendheself thanks to the kensai AC bonus and able to attack as well. or: An allmost invulnerable fighter thanks to stonskin, mantel, spellturning etc, with a few tricks up her arm, all from magic missile to disturb hostile mages to Khelbens warding whip to get through tuff defences. Exellent character with no greater weaknesses i can discern. |
