Help

I've just purchased a new faster hard drive which I would like to replace my current dying one. But I'm half way into my first game of BG2

How do I burn my saved games onto a CD and, install my system on the new hard drive, reinstall BG2 then input the saved games? Which directory are they stored in?
Is it possible?

In your BGII directory, under the folder 'Save'. It should
list all of your saves.

I used a bit of software called "Ghost". I used it to copy my 2.5 GB hard drive over to a 30 GB HD. I have had no problems whatsoever using that technique. I can't provide a link to help though. sorry

I was lucky enough to have a helpdesk dude give me a copy of the software.

This is me being a hot, steaming cup of no-help.

As previously mentioned, Ghost would be the best way to go. If you've never used it there's 1 simple fact to keep in mind. You can't put the Ghost image onto the same partition you're Ghosting.

Burning the saves onto a cd and then copying them back into the bg2 directory later will work fine, ive done it myself.

As long as you remember to get rid of the "READ ONLY" attribute after you copy the saved games back. If you don't the game will crash on you.

Just a thought, if you use BOTH hard-drive you can have windows + backups on one and games on the other. Cant hurt and will save you if your HD dies at an inconvinient moment. oh wait the original is dying - well, put it as the second drive and just use it for backups.the easiest way to copy a drive to another is XCOPY32, an old dos command. cant remember the syntax tho. and the saves are only 800k so you could get away with floppies if you wanted. cheaper.
