I need help thinking of a better name than 'Lefty' for my temporary pet praying mantis. I moved him from my front door to my bushes almost a week ago and just found him on my front door again. I know it's the same one because the odds that there are two brown mantises with the right front leg broken off at the same joint, aren't very good. I brought him inside this time (in a small container I keep on hand) because it's down in the 40s tonight and I've recently sprayed my yard with bug spray. Now he needs a good name to represent his stalwart personality. (Until I put him back outside to find a mate to bite his head off.)

Actually he might be a Carolina Mantid instead of a Praying Mantis. Anyway, might consider calling the little guy Scritchy, for the sound of him moving around in the container.
It may seem wierd to some of you but to me this makes up a little bit for not getting to see any ladybug swarms this Autumn.

True enough, Warhammer! Maybe "Scritchy" will be the one doing the biting!

I've heard of wives 'biting their husbands heads off', but that was generally figuratively and only about forgetting to do the dishes or staying too late at a poker game! Methinks preying mantis' take that expression a little too seriously!
