There is an air show a few miles away, and 2 F22 Raptors were at the first non military airshow. MAN those suckers are loud! And one of them looked like it was idling in the air, hovering for a few seconds.. I filmed it on a miniDV, if anyone wants to see it, lemme know. I can pull it to the PC.
F22's are the latest jet fighters, and have stealth capabilities. Here is what they look like: http://home.pon.net/hunnicutt/images/F22.jpg

...must be some hellified mufflers...*whistle* Funky looking jets, with virtually no silhouette. I bet they'd be hard to engage in a dog fight as well, at least visually.

They have some stealth capability, but only from radar sources below them. And yes, they're the cool shizzint.

Ah. Much more impressive than the Toronto Raptors, I see.

Just a little military info here. The USN/USMC flies F-18's which replaced the old F-14's which you seem to have a liken of. The USAF is testing and procuring the F-22 to replace the aging F-15 fleet. Thou you might have fond memories of 'Tom Cruise' flying a USN F-14 from the 80's, it is in fact older than that, 21 DEC 1970 is when the first F-14 flew. This is like 2006 the last time I checked! It is time for the USAF to take the technological lead in the "Air Superiorty Role" that they were created to compete in. [ 04-15-2006, 09:51 PM: Message edited by: Felix The Assassin ]

I didn't say they were better... just cooler... and not because of Top Gun
And actually I was a fan of them (and most US jet in the 80s) before Top Gun came, Read a lot about them anywere I could. I had a huge collection of Fighter jet plastic models as a kid, F14 1 in 1:48 scale...and 2 in 1:75, F18, F16 and even a F4 which was F14's predecessor (right?). So yes I know F15 (and F22) are in the Airforce F16 is (was?) in the Army and F14 and F18 are used in the navy. My question is, what has replaced F16 if it has been replaced (I have not been keeping up... for like 16 years ), Was it the A-10? I remember it being nicknamed Tankbuster or something like that. |
