They often have the right character's in there... but they don't travel along with the party... and I can't really justify taking them along... take some examples from my favourite authors...

David Eddings:
Belgariad / Malloreon... Polgara = Sorceror
Belgarath = Sorceror
Belgarion = Sorceror
Silk = Thief
Mandorallen = Fighter
Lelldorin = Fighter
Relg = ??? (walks through stone...???)
Barak = Fighter
Hettar = Fighter
Durnik = Blacksmith (fighter)
Toth = Guide (fighter)
Ce'Nedra = No class
Taiba = No class
Eriond = God

Does anyone agree?
Does anyone even know what the hell I am talking about?
lol, I think I know what your talking about - I disagree with your choices tho -

David Eddings:
Belgariad / Malloreon...
Polgara Sorceror/shapeshifter - LG/NG
Belgarath = Sorceror/shapeshifter - LN
Belgarion = Sorceror/Fighter/shapeshifter - hes got the sword of Riva - LG?
Silk = Thief / assassin not sure about assassin - but he did take out those horaths - or whatever they call themselves, CN/NG/TN
Mandorallen = Fighter - definatly not - a paladin thu n thu LG
Lelldorin = Fighter - again not, hes an archer. NG/CG
Relg = ??? not sure about him... he uses a knife tho..LG/CG
Barak = Fighter I'd have him as a beserker - n he turns into a bear too - LN/NG/CG
Hettar = Fighter - sabre guy. Hmm, yeah, leave him as a fighter, CN/NG/CG
Durnik = Blacksmith (fighter) nah, not a fighter. then again... possibly the closest... maybe a bard - he played some instrument in the Malloren I recall. LG
Toth = Guide (fighter) ~ CN/CG
Ce'Nedra = I'd have her as... wait, "brat" inst a class erm, "commoner"
Taiba = No class - cant think of a class for this one.
Eriond = God - lol not until the end. LG

AND you forgot BELDIN! how could you?! I'd have him as a druid. Because of shapeshifting... and because he smells a dward druid hmm, possibly a CN

Or, to form another approach, a party of Lord of the Rings second-fiddle shmoes;

Halbarad Dunadan, Ranger
Imrahil, Half-Elven Fighter
Beregond, Fighter
Glorfindel, Elven Cleric
Fredegar Bolger, Halfling Thief
Radagast the Brown, Wizard/Druid

A party of guys that do a little; but not a lot. Especially Radagast, the idle berk. How can a wizard live within 20 miles of Dol Guldur - Sauron's summer abode - and have to wait for Gandalf to come and investigate?!?

The movies are great, but my bitch is with some of the things they changed. I know that all movie adaptations of books will be modified, but I don't understand why they made some of the changes and deletions. The biggest is probably the forging of the sword! What the hell were they thinking?!? My guess is Arwen will probably bring the sword, instead of the banner she makes in the books, to the battle. Or, they will leave it out completely, which would be idiotic. What possessed them to turn the most stalwart character in the books into an incessant little whiner/complainer. How many dwarf tossing jokes/references are they goint to put into these movies?
Now, don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed them imensely. I guess I am just a novel purist.

wow...i didn't realize that a LOTR party meant that much to you guys...i had an idea but since i didn't take the time to read all these messages of complaints and criticism, i won't tell it...but i must say i did read the books (they only took 3 years for this barely literate jack@$$ to decipher) and i just wish there was some patch i could download so i could make an ent, because they rock almost as much as dwarves and i didn't agree with the movie's representation of them...but now im getting all geeky so ill leave............

It may be a while before I make my party. I recently bought Neverwinter Nights. I'm currently trying to get the Dryads and Dwarves who live in a snow globe to stop fighting.

Hang on! I thought that this was about a "LORD OF THE RINGS" party, NOT the history of middle and Aragorn! Anyway, I think that Aragorn was almost complietly human,as he is something like 99.99999999999999999% human, 0.11111111111111110% elf, and 0.00000000000000001 Vala. So he can't be half elf, or Assamar.

MY party sugestion:

Aragorn:Human ranger
Legolas:Wild Elf ranger/fighter
Gimli:Gold Dwarf fighter/barbarian
Gandalf:Assamar sorcerer/druid
Merry:Strongheart Halfling thief
Eowen:Human Silverstar of Selume/fighter

Gimli is a barbarian as he seems to be a particularly insane, mad axe dwarf.

Wow. That makes Aragorn 100.1111111111111111% of a person. That's pretty cool.

I agree that Aragorn should be a human ranger.
Why do so many people think Legolas should be a wild elf?
Gimli is a barbarian? I think not.
Gandalf is most certainly a sorcerer. I don't know about Druid.
Eowen . . . I'm not sure yet.
