Actually, sometimes using colours can be make posts really hard to read.

The worst thing you can do with font colours is to use a "stealth" font that matches the forum background. The only way to see the message is to highlight the text so you can see it. Not only is it annoying on a forum where (presumably) the intention is to have your posts seen, but in the end it's utterly pointless.

Attalus, just move the cursor to the beginning of the post, press the left mouse key and hold it down while moving the mouse...you'll see the highlighted text!
