Not getting credit for quests...help needed

Ok, I've started training as a Paladin. I found the altar, said Sanctus Holy to it and it said "blessed be he that...". I go back to the armory, select my character and then Smitty tells me I haven't searched the toad village yet, which I haven't, and that I will become a Paladin when I say Sanctus Holy to the Altar. Well, the problem is, I just did that! How come I'm not getting any credit for it? I enter the guild and it still doesn't give me credit. It shows me still in training. Do I have to be a certain guild level to become a paladin? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You need to return to the Temple to complete your Paladin training.

Make certain that you let the NPC in the TEMPLE complete talking - giving you credit for the quest before you do anything else (switch to a different character, buy something, etc.) If you don't let them finish talking, you won't get credit.

Not letting them finish talking was my first problem in this game and resulted in my finding this board.
