question: this is about harware stuff. i was wondering what happens if your powersupply is insufficient with all hardware inside your computer?? i asked this kind of question because i have a p4 celeron with 3 harddisk, flopply, cdrom, internal modem, lan card, 3 memory ram (total of 256) and my powersupply is only 230 watts. i noticed that my comptuer is slowing down (im not really sure if it is because the power supply cant take it or something else)

It could be the powersupply or it could be heat build up.Try blowing out the insides of the case with some canned air. Dust is a fantastic insulator and a CPU that gets too hot will get sluggish. A 250W powersuppy is a pretty hefty unit and if the problem only recently occured it could be a sighn that your power supply is on its way to crapping out on you.

Heating or Power Supply. Doubt its the mobo, but its not impossible. A 250W PSU, contrary to Hunters opinion, is well below what that system needs.

Not enough juice to run all parts sufficiently can lead to a lack of performance. I would go with either 350 or more (I recommend 450, especially with a P4). There was a big article on www.tomshardwhare.com about how most power supplies actually deliver far less juice then they're supposed to. If cleaning out your case of dust bunnies doesn't help, then i believe your problem is your power supply.
