What does it matter in the least? I am fat, and would like to know why it matters to you. I am a little offended at this post. Even recognizing this stereotype, even if not your opinion, supports it. I would like to know why your asking this. Asking what kind of gamer you are, from doctor to taxi driver, would be fine, but about being fat and oh-ya stinky? Why we're they even in the same sentence? And the big bowl of icecream??? You are supporting the stereotype of overwieght people by these remarcks, and I dont appreciate it.

Where would anyone get an idea a gamer would be fat? And I won't lie, I'm big, but I'm not fat. Gamers are anyone that enjoy to get away from troubles of the real world and like to take out their stress or just enjoy playing on a computer or game system. It, too, depends on the game. I know of most people that won't play anything unrealistic and stick to games like Grand Theft Auto, most people I know would look at me weird because I play games like BG and AD&D because they're too narrow-minded to want to understand it. If it wasn't for games, for one I'd be really bored (bum-leg) and secondly I wouldn't have the imagination I have to be writing the books that I do write.

Erm I dont know a single person like that, then again you got the bands all wrong for me and ive noticed most people are sectioned into which music types they like...
Most games are idiotic, or unrealistic, but thats why there fun...
Erm your a sick person after what you said about Ricky Martin, thats just wrong...
You forgot normal people who like to take a break from their time out to play games sometimes...
I'm not worried about how much i play games because i only do it when i dont have something else planned now having around 2 gigabytes of mp3's on my computer is something i am a little worried about...

Um..... NO. I get out more often then usual. I don't hold a bowl of ice cream in my hand and my mouse in the other. I am a little on the chubby side but that's not the point. lol. I don't agree with a stereotypical view of a gamer anyway.

Well you could say you have two types of gamers. The first one out is the geeks. Or the computer nerds. The geeks have a very low social status. Im talking about people that that dont have a social life here. People that does nothing but sitting in front of the computer all day long. They dont give a **** about their outfit or anything really. they can look rather ugly sometimes. They usually have a really low social intelligence and are really quiet in public and they dont have many real life friends.

The other type consists of persons that does have a social life and they enjoy relaxing with computer games every now and then.
This is the big difference. Having a social life or not.
Now what group do you belong to? Thats the question that should have been posted. Not if youre fat or not.

And again I feel sorry for the geeks. They are so much addicted and will have lots of troubles later on when they want to try to get a social life. Its a hell to get out of it really. Geeks usuaylly get offended by being called a geek and dont want to realize that they are geeks. These are the guys that has the ability to change. Others accept it and are proud of beeing a geek. These will probably stay geeks the rest of the life, and I hope they will live a happy life anyway.

Hmm, the sterotypical gamer here (usally) is an overweight guy who listens to darker music and is obbsessed with Star Trek and stays on his compurter all day.

Am I fat? I am 5'9 and about 165, I think that might be about 5 pounds over the ideal weight. I do stay on my compurter most of the time, I do play pnp dnd about twice a month. I have curly hair and I do were glasses, some people say I look like Jack Osborne. I have never watched Star Trek in my life, and I usally have 1 of the 4 following bands bands in my cd player. The Clash, The Ramons, The Scorpions or Iron Maiden.

So nah, I am not the seterotpyical gamer. I am a little weird maybe, but thats all. In fact, like the people above, I do not know one person that fits the sterotypical gamer.

You know, for some of the people posting here, stereotyping others is a rather rude thing to do. Some say they feel sorry for people acting as though they have it better and such, I've got a bum-leg, so does that make me a fat dude with a thing of ice-cream? I'll admit, I am a geek but I've got a very good social life. There is no group to belong to, we're all gamers, some may play more than others, but that doesn't mean anything. Just don't stereotype people because of what you've heard or have made from your own assumptions.

Geek and loving it. Sometime along about - oh, late college - I realized that many of the girls who disliked geeks in high school found them cute later on. Who am I to argue?

Geek, dweeb, nerd, I'm all of those. My idea of a fun evening is sipping scotch and playing BG on my computer, getting up regularly to kiss my wife on the cheek or forehead. For a truly raucous event, let's get live people together a play D&D!!

What I've learned is that pigeon-holing people is quite difficult. While all of the above is true about me, I run a few miles every couple of days, lift weights, followed the Dead and Phish around for some time, and can enjoy a good Miami trance club until about 5 a.m. before hitting breakfast.

Yes, there is a stereotypical gamer - with 2 or 3 possible incarnations. But, I think after high school people get over it for the most part.

that sums me up about a year ago. i was a nerd, not a geek though (nerds are the ones that end up rich). only reason i was so much a gamer is becuase i have ME and it stopped me doing anything. if you look at my skin it tells my story. it has nearly no colour. i like it also, i'm not ugly. sure i ain't exactly pretty but ugly ain't me.
