Another proof that there's no logic in football. The Greeks eliminate the Czechs. The best team doesn't always win, matter of fact, most of the time they don't. I'd say this is a dissaster for Czech football.

I didn't watch the game, but I heard it! Unbelievable! The Greeks won!
My bro's really pissed off about that(takes football a bit seriously, oh well). He thinks that Greece was definitely not the better of the two, and that they're way too defensive, so the Final might not be as interesting as it would've been if Czech had won. Euro 2004 has been full of surprises so far! I'll just hope that Portugal wins. |

Well, the finals have definitely devaluated. Portugal-Greece is a less appealing picture than Portugal-Czech republic. Anyway, i don't give a crap who wins it now, if it can't be us, then i'm not interrested anymore.

I'm happy at this result - it's good to see some of the smaller nations succeeding - Johnny's view is taht it devalues the tournament but I disagree - I agree it robs the tournament of a bit of glamour and a bit of star power to not have the big names like Zidane, Nedved, Van Nistelrooy, Becks etc. there, but I'm thrilled for these battlers to actually get to realise their dream - after all they got there fair and square (it's a bit of an Aussie thing to barrack for the underdog). It shows that the game is truly a world game. If there's a criticism I have of rugby it's that this type of result would never happen - at each World Cup you pretty much know that the semifinalists will be Australia, NZ, South Africa and France, with very little chance of a smaller nation like Samoa, Italy, Japan or even Scotland making it in.

It's because of the way they play Memnoch, Greece will have trouble filling stadiums outside of Greece with that type of play. If people want to sleep, they much rather do it in their own beds.
The way the Czechs were playing, was a pleasure to watch for everyone who respects the game of football, Greece's style of play is destructive, boring and ugly. It's too bad that every once in a while countries who play that style get rewarded for it. It will only mean that in the future more countries are gonna try to play like this, because it might pay off, and that's not something this game needs.

I agree with johnny but only half. You could say the same thing for the Italians becuase of their "Catenaccio" tactic. It may be boring, it may destructive but it brings some kind of result as we all saw yesterday. I also prefer more attacking football like Portugese/Brasil/Holland has it but you can`t have everything.
