Glitchy gameplay

Hey everyone, I just made a search for this problem, saw none listed, so I'm going to go ahead and post this. I was playing Icewind Dale for a while, got to Dorn’s Deep, and for some reason (I don’t remember) I took hiatus from the game. Well anyway, I came back to play again, and the game play and interface are, lack of a better term, glitchy. Here’s a short list of the problems I’ve been having: when I look at a character’s profile-stats-etc, a few areas of the screen are blacked out, also when I view the map screen, parts are blacked out and when I move the cursor around the screen certain places show and others black out, some of the icons for armor, weapons, and other items are blacked out (or the item shows but the background is blacked out. I went and uninstalled/reinstalled but when I went back to the game, I get the same deal. I’m really hoping someone out there can help me, I’m tremendously eager to go back and complete this game, if anyone has ideas, please let me know. Thanks!

Sounds like a driver problem to me. Try the latest drivers for your video card and if that didn't work, maybe roll back to older drivers from back then.

Did you change your video card at all between the time you went on Hiatus and the time you started playing again?

Also, in the IWD configuration utility try changing the graphics options.

disable 3d acceleration if you have it enabled. change from 16 to 32 bit colors or vice versa. Try enabling/disabling the different BLTs.
