Hooray for the bard! Hooray!
They're looking good, simple but easy to differentiate. Me likes.

The first few sets are going to have Cedar pieces, as I have a lot of Cedar laying around my basement. Not quite sure on the boxes/boards yet, as I haven't been able to shop up materials. Pricing, I'm not sure, I may have to have an IW auction, so I can get an idea.

I have completed one set of pieces, and added the pics to my site. www.robertbard67206.com/Woodwork

These remind me of the wooden set my grandmother had. Hers was lacquered dark brown/red.

The finish colors have yet to be decided, at this time, but that does seem like a good idea. I have considered stain/varnish for one side, and simply varnishing the other. The wood looks pretty good, and if the varnish doesn't discolor it too much, this could be a viable option. When I do get to applying the actual finishes, I will finish the squares on the board to match the pieces. It's my hope that each set will be different, at least at first, or that I will have several color schemes to work with.

Got all but 7 pawns done on the second set, but needed some coffee.
