Arrow Facebook redux

I've never been a fan of social networking sites, mostly because they are filled with the people I try to avoid in real life, but I ran into an old friend of mine yesterday and he urged me into signing up for Facebook.

So far I have managed to avoid running into anyone I know, but I'm sure my luck won't run for long. How about you guys? Anyone using facebook? What's your experience with it?

I'm not using it, but several people have been urging me to before I go to uni.

I've got one, but I don't do much of anything with it. Whatever you do, don't add all the little apps that people try to push on you, your info will be spread all over the net before you can sneeze.

Thumbs Up Re: Facebook redux

Facebook is fantastic! I've found all sorts of old friends, work colleagues etc on facebook. I use it more than email. Have over 600 friends on it, and it's a great way to keep in touch with people, see what they're up to, and communicate with groups of friends (like to organise a get together/party etc)

Found people I thought I'd never find again, (I've moved a lot) and it's helped my work, which relies on connections.

Really good tool.

I use to use it a lot, then the nasty people at worked blocked it, and now I've not been on it for months.

I use it as well mainly for keeping in touch with old friends. It was also really handy in organising a school reunion.

I keep most of my business contact off there preferring to use linked in for all business related networking.

I have myspace, but as with DS I've been urged to get it before Uni. I think myspace is school/college, whilst facebook is a bit more uni people, if that makes sense (and is a gross generalisation)
