A sad truth, all things considered. I asked about the dedicated server once myself, I believe, or went to find out, when my building partner and I were discussing it. W/out that, NWN's as we have come to know it is dead. Single player campaigns are all good, but they hold no charm for me. If I wanted single player games, I'd have stuck with the Infinity Engine games. Not that there was anything wrong with them, I own all of them, except maybe Planescape Torment, but I used to own that one too. It's just that now that I've played online, with regular groups of people, I'd never adjust back to being on my own.

I play both OC and multiplay (as well as pw online) NWN and if NWN2 is missing the best features of online and multiplay it will not meet the same standards as NWN did for me. The multiplay and pw play is a major reason I still play. SP mods are nice but it's the mp and pw that keep it going for me long past when I'd have stopped playing the game in favor of others.
I hope they're listening to all the potential buyers of their game and working out some of the flaws we anticipate. [ 07-05-2006, 03:05 PM: Message edited by: Cloudbringer ]

They aren't. The bottom line is that the bottom line is all they are worried about. Whether it's Obsidian's fault or not, Single Player campaigns will sell. What Atari fails to realize is that NWN's is still selling, on the shelves, not in the bargain bins. It's running right along with the Diablo franchise for longevity, and that is due to the MP/PW players. They are thinking about initial sales, and hoping it will dig them out of their self created hole.
