I tried different level of difficulties and kill some monsters and found that the xp is unchanged... and I even discovered that the xp is actually lower than in single play! (I test it in multi-play, creating all my 6 members) example, I remember that when I disarmed a trap in single play, I got aruond 2,700 xp, but now I got only 1,700 something... that doesn't make any sense, or do I miss something?

you don't get the same exp for each traps disarmed. They have different rate of difficulty so tougher they are, more exp you get. For monster and difficulty, I don't know but it is only tougher to play, would not be more difficult if you grow faster with tougher monsters no ?

I dunne think that XP raises
But it might be so that the game spawns more monsters and thus giving you a higher netto XP rate
But i'm not sure

The essence of the higher difficulty is that they get stronger and you get weaker
not that you get more XP

In Baldurs Gate 1 the higher the difficulty the harder the monsters and the more experience you got. In Baldurs Gate 2 you get the same amount of experience whatever difficulty it's set on. It just makes it harder.
As Entreri said there are differen't levels of traps (some are harder to disarm than other). The better the trap the more experience you get for dissarming it. It's the same with locked things as well.

No one lacks strength,
They lack will.
