Racial enemy.

What's the best over-all racial enemy for a Ranger?

Dragons, perhaps?

Well you want something that's reasonably hard to kill, and that there are a lot of. Vampires is a good idea, though if you've got Minsc his enemy is vampires, so you mightn't want to double up. I don't think you can get beholders, but that would be good too. Demons maybe? There are quite a few, or golems (but again I don't think you can choose golems). Dragons maybe, but there aren't that many and it probably wouldn't really make a difference, if you're not tough enough to kill a dragon, having it as a racial enemy probably wouldn't help, same with something like a lich. Oh also mindflayers, there are heaps of those.

So my picks are vampires, then mindflayers, then demons (unless you can pick beholders etc)

Golems are found everywhere, so are
beholders it seems. Pick something
powerful!!

You can choose golems as well

I would choose Beholder, but you'll have to get some serious magic resistance.

maybe not the most practicle, but i picked goblins i think for my half game as a ranger. they're ugly, mean, nasty and fun to just completely obliterate.

I actually found it quite useful to have dragons as my racial enemy, it also enhances a stalker's spell-casting on that particular creature.

I had the shadow dragon under a horror spell from my stalker. Then I could kill it at my liesure.

I might still pick Vamps if you have Minsc, they are a pain in my ass, IMO, and they're so...so....vampirish...

I'd either pick that or the French...

valygar's racial enemy is golems. beholders are a legit choice.

I would definately go with demons or dragons.. by the time you get to ToB, you'll be fighting more than a few of them...
