Ranger-cleric are very strong since its gives you all priest and druid spells.
Kensai-mage is also very powerful but my favourite is swashbuckler/mage, since its a fighter-thief-spellcaster.

right now, i am playing a bounty hunter dual to mage, it involed a bit cheating because i gave him two spells that speed up casting by using shadow keeper... MY GOD!!! HE IS LIKE A MACHINE GUN!!

talk about dual class combo. i dont really think dual class should be made accessible (because no one can be genious good at everything) but assasin dual to fighter, berserker dual to mage, swashbulker dual to fighter, avenger dual to fighter, ranger dual to cleric, berserker dual to mage, cleric dual to mage are all good choices.

Kensai-Thief was cool. I prefer straight classing though.

Had a good game with a Swashbuckler/Fighter

Swashbuckler 11th level / Fighter 18th ( Max )

AC -10 to -13 doable whilst dual wielding

5 points in Katana and 3 in dual wielding
4 attacks per round THACO -11 / -9

HP 103

Put all thief points into find traps, pick lock, pick pockets and set traps.

He accounted for 47% of kills in a party that included Korgan and Minsc.

Having a trap finding tank makes the game move faster. Also you don't have to take on a crappy NPC thief..opens a slot for someone better. Except for Valygar
because I killed him and wore his family armor.

Incidently he can use the above thief skills even while wearing some very good armor. Vals armor for example gave him an AC of -8 . Of course I keep that Gorgon Plate handy for serious melee.
