Cleric/mage strongholds

I've just been asked by some very annoying Talos-worshippers to become a cleric there. That's fun and all, but being a cleric/mage, could i refuse the cleric stronghold and go for the mage-stronghold ?
I like the planar-sphere better for its items, so i want the mage-stronghold.

Is it possible, or is the cleric-part dominant ?

the mage stronghold is much better than the cleric stronghold - better items for one thing.

Yes, you can turn the clerics down. There is no concequence to that, though in the true Faerun I don't think Talos would be too pleased if you refused to join his temple. Again, you can turn down the clerics and get the mage tower and there will be no penalties or concequences, but I'm saying that most evil gods... Oh, never mind.

Well... you can always cast Protection from Electricity or wear the Cloak of Reflection everytime you go out in the open. Watch in amusement as people flee from the walking lightning conductor. Of course, this is just from a roleplaying perspective.
