You don't have anyone who can cast ID yet?
My first suggestion is to get a bard. But seriously, the soonest you can get it is from Orrick the Grey. I remember finding another in the Vale somewhere too. Though if you're in Lonleywood, neither of this helps you. I don't remember HoW well, but if you can get back to Lonelywood, there's that guy in the tavern that sells stuff, maybe he has one.

Thanx for the advice.....i'll have to create a bard, identify the gear then delete him. Can they have ID as soon as they are created or is it a second level spell?

Elves do tend to be good at it as their usualy Mages or other non-fighter classes, meaning their Lore is higher, but its the same rules. A bard is the best though, they get +9 lore per level, the next best are mages and theives at +3 per level. Fighter get a frankly pathetic +1 per level. A bard of level 12 or higher will have a lore of >100, meaning they can identify everything. Assuming you dont have a INT or WIS below 11, which incurs penatlies to lore.
