It is possible to complete the game without cheating or reseting - just takes more skill. I have completed the game playing a solo faerie wizard without role-changing..

Some of my favourite tips early on in the game:
1. Save often like wyvern says..
2. Learn to fire off shock and burn quickly so that you can blast enemy before they reach you
3. Learn to run (backwards helps) - knowing when to retreat is part of adventuring
4. Learn how to climb the wall at Valeia - useful safe place to rest. Also, you can have target practice and spell practice at any worgurs who come along
5. Don't take on the rogue leader and his crew at the treasure chest until you reach level 4 or so
6. Pay for training - especially spell casters
7. Identify items before selling. Best to keep one item so taht you don't need to pay to identify again

Few tips on the crypt
-learn how to reach the two fountains quickly. One heals mana, the other heals hit points
-cmplete both warrior and wizard path (get the other crystal by dragging and stacking crates or look up and jump)
-collect skulls worth easy gold and exp

Isn't it interesting that everyone is different! I restarted the game many times to get my characters up. I have not tried jumping on the wall at Valai yet, I kept my Priest and Wizard as they were until they got all their spells up, but that was near the game. When I finished I started a new game with the same characters but it wasn't as much fun as I could teleport etc. Norin, I found the Omphaz hard to use and the Ratling kept dying, so that is what I mean by an interesting combination as you seem to have been able to use them without trouble. Young one, you have some very good ideas listed, I am going to print them out and try them, thank you. Everyone, thanks for your input, it is wonderful to be able to discuss this with others. I like to try different strategies so keep them coming. And....Happy gaming all!

I'm kinda confused as to why everyone thinks there's any need to cheat. I started out with a full party of six characters, never used the cheat to get gold, never reset the adventure, and aside from tech problems and a bit of leprechaun frustration, never had all that much trouble. Had to pick off the Amazoni mantraps one at a time and ressurect a lot between, but that was the toughest part of the game. By the time I met up with the jungle lillies in the Boogre caves I had one char with meteorstorm and one with icestorm and between them they could blast those pesky plants into oblivion.

As for the begining, lots of troll hunting and then running back to town to heal and sell their stuff. Mostly a matter of patience, and knowing when to run away.

okayyyyyyyyyy.........now i know that you guys dun cheat when you play the game. pls. dun see me as some cheater ok? lolz
another tip(s) for no-cheating ppl.:
1. train up like crazy!!!
2. if you have 2 spell casters of the same class, ie.2 wizards or 2 priests, have 1 focus on 1 school of magic while the other focuses on the other 1 (wizard:1 sun 1 stone priest:1 spirit 1 vine). DUN focus on both as that will only slow you down...
3. try to get your intellect stat. up to abt. 13 so that you can increase 3 skills and 16 to increase 4 (i dun know abt. higher intellect & skill-increasing yet lolx!)
Enjoy playin................!!!

Actually, LiOnHe@rT, I don't believe I've used any cheats, lately. However, I may not be the most objective of folks, so I'll open it up to all of you in another post to determine whether I'm cheating or not.

Good gameplay removes the need to cheat, IMHO. In fact, when I finish my current game of MM9, I'm going back to the Gael Serran for a cheat-free game (as determined by you, my fellow board-members).
