Well I have no idea what Clerks is but I knew enough about Marvel comics to recognise the characters in the animation, but that's it. The only marvel comics I know more than just a bit about are Spiderman and X-Men.

oh, you have to know about clerks to even understand the cartoon. see the movie and you'll get it.

you'll also need to see the movies:
mall rats
jay and silent bob strike back
dogma
(i forget but theres one more)

to get a deeper understanding of the movie
