Religion is a way to gain power over the people. "I say what god say, you obey me, you obey him". It is easy to play with weak minds then.
Ah, I'll perhaps write a longer speech about it when I am not online and wasting money.

Oh dear. Here we go:

Sure some weak-minded people turn to religion, but is that such a bad thing? They could be turning to drugs, to violence, to hate.

Weak-mindedness is not a prerequisite for spirituality. You're using a broad generalization that's not even accurate.

Istaron - Perhaps you are talking about cults? There are many cults out there that DO skew the Bible, and yes, prey on vulnerable people. These Cult leaders are usually power hungry, very confused individuals. But as for Christianity or other Religions in general, tis not the case. I have never gone to a church where there were priests or ministers trying to mislead people away from the Bible, nor are they seeking any kind of power. It is a place where people gather to worship God and life and love. Oh, and NONE of us are weak minded either

This is why you should not believe in organized religion, not God.

Organized religion (not all, but some) have taken advantage of 'weak minds', but it should not be used as an excuse to rid the world of all organized religion. Perhaps we could do without some of the TV Evangalists and all the cults, but there is room in this world for the few organizations that actually do good.

This debate will rage throughout time as long as everybody that can fog a mirror has an opinion
