Gonna fight Arkanis Gath!!

So, Arkanis Gath wields a marvelous sword, right? (+50)
Now, where do I find this guy, cause... I am going to get that sword, rob, pickpocket by whatever means.
I was also told that somebody's party got slewn in 5 seconds (now that's fast!!)
Anyways, I wonder if any of the following strategy would work:
Run around in Boots of Speed and fire away with crossbows
Throw him pit fiends
Trap him and fire at range
Also, don't forget to tell me where you find this Arkanis Gath
*** I would not go melee with this guy if he is wielding a +50 sword!!!!

I am not to sure where we is at. But I am guessing that you will not get that sword. The programers probaly set it up so you do not get to kill him. But good luck.

I think he is indestructable.. but when ya do kill him, tell us ayt!

dont forget that this sword gives him a +10 bonus to ac, not to mention any armor he might be wearing, and any dexterity bonuses. it might be just a tad bit hard to hit him with, oh say ANYTHING!!!! but good luck man.

U know, I am going to try many methods.
Cast Flesh to STone on him and shatter him beyond hopes of resurrection, maybe that will work.
Poison him?
Charm him and then make him kill himself???
Any Way!!!!!!!!!

I'm guessing that he has the "MINHP1" item so you can't kill him.. Quite a few plot/quest-related characters have this item.
It may be possible to kill him with an instant-death or petrification spell, I'm not sure.

CONTAINS SPOILERS

You can kill Arkanis Gath but only one 'version' of him I'm pretty sure.

One version pops up if you try to pick pocket people in Mae Var's guild house or Aran Linvail's lair (and you've not joined Bodhi's side).

The other version helps out when you go to attack Bodhi the second time.

The second one can be killed but doesn't have the +50 sword on him, it's a plus two short sword I think.

The first one appears behind your thief character, backstabs (and kills him sutomatically) then does the same to all your other party members. I doubt any tactic you can come up with will allow you to kill him because you'll have five dead characters in the same number of seconds. If you do find a way however I'd be intrigued to know it...

well i dont remember which threat it was on, i dont think it was on this forum though,but someone was doing 1048 or so damage to him per hit, and it filled up the largest text box, and he still wasnt dead. so there is NO way to kill him with his +50 sword!

EDIT: almost forgot, cant pickpocket it off him either cause he's hostile.

That was my understanding too Seph.

If you do try to fight him you don't last long-he killed my stoneskinned, ghost armoured invisible mage with a single backstab for about 700 damage. (wasn't terribly impressed)

Why not use CTRL-Q to "recruit" him for your party, and then steal his sword from him?
