While trying to get back into my shuttle model I've been working on what the original Phaser-I might have looked like if it was designed in the present day. I've reversed the overall color sheme and the rubberized black grip is removable.

Top - There's a display screen along with the main controls. The outline in the back is an access panel where the diagnostic conrols are housed.

Bottom - and here you can see the trigger and the removable powercell:

I've no idea whether that's a spacecraft or some slightly futuristic shaving thingy, but it looks great. I'd never have guessed that it was made by four mad men

It's a hand weapon, a phaser(PHASed Energy Recitification).

Is a phaser one of those electric zappy gizmos to stun people?

Yes, infact that's the exact definition in the old Star Trek Writers Guide . It's also a T.V. remote but the cost of tube replacement gets a little steep.

Thanks for the welcome and thanks even more for the kind words on the model. The shape is something that goes back to my Deluxe Paint III/Amiga days. It almost modeled itself but the textures were the hard part (I pretty much stink at that). Although I am quite pleased at how they turned out.

Heres a couple more renders...

A close-up of the display screen. Anybody have any TOS Movie era bridge display images? I'd really like to make it more inkeeping with what was seen in those.

And here's an image of where the Mad in Four Mad Men comes from (according to some anyway). Way early in the design but here it is anyway.
