Kewl! Be sure to keep us posted!

I don't have a Vista machine yet (nor plans to get one soon), but we'll see what help we can offer

I'm saving my Vista till ZoneAlarm and AVG have versions out for it.

But yeah, it'd be good if someone could try out the various games on Vista and let us know if they can be made to work, and whether or not they need any jiggering to do so.

Light Bulb

I have found a conflict with Windows Vista and the Wizards & Warriors game. The characters faces disappear upon the character icons, in all display modes other than 800 by 600 resolution. There are simply holes where their faces should be. This seems to be true for all races except Gourks which are only missing their noses. Using the 800 by 600 resolution corrects this problem but you will not be able to see the faces in the character icons while using Windows Vista.

Looking for a possible solution,

LOL! That's got to be an impressive little glitch!

I'm not sure what to look at to try to address that... image or video compression somewhere, maybe?

Speaking the newest trash from Redmont, we must also keep in mind the degradation tool integrated in it. You can meet this idiotic tool everytime there is a non Big Bill "certified" piece of code on the way. IMO, this can happen W&W (and other games) easily. This can also be the reason why MJG was recommended "not to install games" on the newest Big Bill nonsense.

Never install Vista! Get more informed what is prepared for you!

It's probably the new DirectX 10 messing with W&W. I personally won't bother installing 'Vista' until the first service pack comes out. (And I have a DX 10 card, but will still wait).

Well, I went from my old WinME machine to a new Vista one, and while W&W ran fine on my old computer (or as well as it runs anywhere, anyway... darn alt-tab incompatibility...), on the new one it's got some problems. The game mostly works fine -- I don't need to uncompress the town AVI files or anything to play, and it runs without compatibility mode enabled, though I did turn on Win95 compatibility mode in case that there are bugs within the game itself that that would fix -- but when I click on the 'Intro' button in the main menu, the game crashes to the desktop. I'd imagine that the ending would do the same thing, since those are the game's two Bink files. I guess the version of the binkw32.dll driver included with the game doesn't work with Vista or something? I tried several different versions of that driver I had from several game installs, but the circa 2000-2001 ones all just crash out, and it's not compatible with newer 2006-2007 versions of the driver that I also have. Is there any way to fix this, or do I just have to live with the game crashing in the intro or when I beat it...

One note: RAD Game Tools (newest version), the player from the people who make Bink, plays both videos just fine. It's just when the game tries to play the video internally that it crashes.
