I agree with Neb in the matter of the drugs... noone should do something, purely because someone else does it. Its like "Hey. all my friends shot themselves. I will too. I wonder if I die aswell ??"...
And especially a 14 year old should definately NOT use drugs of any kind, execpt for medicinal purposes. |

It is his body, and he has RIGHT to do whatever he wishes with it. If his body is ready, why not? He can't come to any harm.
Of course, I know people who lost their virginity at the age of 14 (or earlier than that). It did cause them no harm. They are all a buch of assholes, but that they were before too. NO, he has not right to drink or smoke just because you do it, but teenager does not reason that way. You asked for advice, well, don't be mad when someone with another oppinion than you own give his. Or perhaps you just wanted to tell the board about your mischievous (darn bad english) son you have, so people can feel sorry for you? |

If a son/daughter has to lie to his/her parents as to where they are going/who with et.c....there is obviously a problem of communication and understanding between both parties.....neither of who are the main culprits im sure.
Although not everyone knows the full story here so its hard to comment....kids have to grow up some day and take control of their actions right or wrong, liked or disliked by friends/family and well teenage years are those tricky years that a parent has to deal with and no matter what you do it's gonna be the wrong decision. Obey your parents?! Jesus that's gonna cause loads of friction if you ask me, its suppose to be a happy family, not boot camp......but Im from England so might have different views/values to people from other countries. Maybe the thing to think about is why was there the need to lie and the secrecy that would help solve things I feel. Not really understanding the problem with this girl so uhmm Im unsure there, maybe i misread something -A little unclear what exactly he has done that is so bad...hmm Im 29 male from the UK with 0 kids (thank goodness).....so Im only giving views from what i remember as a teenager and from what i see/hear of my friends who are foolish enough to have kids already...I listen and learn from all their mistakes

I'm not going to have any children, I know the way I turned out. I don't want to worry everytime they go somewhere, thinking; "Will they do the samething I did?"

quote: Let me see now, why doesn't he have the right to do whatever he wants with his body? That's right, because he's a teenager, teenagers generally think themselves smarter than they are and should not be allowed to do whatever they want with their bodies since they cannot comprehend the consequences. And just because you knew some people who lost their virginity early why should anyone else lose their virginity that early? Wedin, how OLD are you? I'm 16 btw. |

Saying someone is only a "teenager" so they have no rights to their life is feeble
In different countries it is legally and socially acceptable to do things at differing ages so that kinda throws that out the window Just because someone is classed as an adult certainly does not suddenly grant them wisdom and insight into their actions. I remember a song by an artist who recently passed away "Age ain't nothing but a number"

IT DID CAUSE THEM NO HARM! Read it more closeley! I never said they SHOULD do it! It just isn't dangerous! Argh! Then they have to learn to face the consequenses. They are racing towards a world of grown ups, and they must have become grown ups when they reach it. That is what the teens are all about, right? I am 16 too, since you are so curious |

quote: I did not say that they should have no rights, but merely that their parents are the ones who has the final say in any case because teenagers are not yet experienced enough to comprehend the effects of many of the things that they might do, such as drugs, beginning to smoke, or drinking alcohol. I did not say that all adults were somehow capable of this, there are many adults who might make the mistake of beginning to smoke or do drugs, or become alcoholics, but with teenagers we KNOW that they lack the experience, adults MIGHT lack it. In Denmark it's allowed to do a lot of things at age 16, such as smoking and drinking alcohol, in my opinion it shouldn't be, teenagers here drink FAR too much alcohol. |
