Middle-Earth was always there (except before the world was created ), as that's where the Elves wake. They travel from Middle-Earth to Valinor, but many stay on Middle-Earth, so saying that there was something "before" Middle-Earth is inaccurate, unless you're only referring to the Creation story itself.
