Icewind Dale reference (SoU)

If you ask the Hermit in the gnoll area in SoU if anyone has offered to sell him any magic items, he tells you about a halfling with a red ruby pendant who went to Icewind Dale some 10 years ago. Is this a reference to something in Icewind Dale games? I finished IWD parts 1 and 2 several times but can't remeber anything about this.

I'm asking because in another piece of dialogue with the Hermit there is a reference to Harry Potter. So I'm just curious if the halfling is a reference to somthing too.

There is a small reference to Regis in the popular PC game Neverwinter Nights expansion, Shadows of the Undertide. When the main hero speaks with a merchant in Hilltop Forest and asks if the merchant has any rare items, he speaks of a halfling with a ruby pendant, that the halfling never meant to sell it, and that he just kept playing with it. He remorses about a bad deal he had made with the halfling. Although he never declares his name, it is a definite suggestion that Regis had been there and had used his Ruby Pendant to persuade the man.
