Ok, so ive just finished the game for the second time and im thinking about going solo. Any ideas on what kit to choose? what tactics to use? and if I remove the experience cap do I have to get some rules for the game so that when going up the levels it actually makes a difference in the skills etc my character has?

Try a fighter/mage/thief. Thieving and fighter skills advance ok beyond level 19, it is only spell progression that ceases at 20th level.

Why use a kit? You should remove the XP cap to prevent maxing out too early and there is a level 40 or 50 rules patch available on a few sites. I think TeamBG have one.

Jim, fighters don't receive THAC0 bonuses after lvl 20 or so unless you fit a rules patch.

i've done it as a mage and its very hard, i had to rest till healed so much its was more than 700 days before if finished and youll have nothing but cheese. SO id say for most fun a thief. try takeing out the twisted rune with nothing but a short sword
