Hi all and welcome, I'm SEAL.
I have a DVD copy of W&W. I instaled virtualDub and done all wacky things, and the game works great. But I read about Kireth sanctuary bug, Vampire ring bug etc. and I wish to remove them. So I download the patch, installing it, everything works fine, but when i try to play the game it asks me for cd 2, which I dont have (beacuse its DVD version-only one cd. The game also works without cd). Any of you guys know how can I deal with this problem.
Thx. SEAL

BTW. Ive brought 13 skeleton skulls to mayor but I cant end quest, anyone now how to do it?
BTW2: How do i get crystal anmd keys in crypt. i have this little funny stick but I dont now whats next. Oh, and HOW THE HELL do i bring this little guy a rat???

Welcome to the board, seal!!

From where did you get a DVD copy of the game?? Hadn't heard of any of those being around -

Now on to see if we can solve your problems.

The patch isn't going to solve all problems and, in some cases, it's better to not install the patch.
If you check in the BEST TIPS thread here: http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/cg...4;t=004753;p=4
half way down the page you'll find a post from Sazerac that tells you what you gain and what you loose by using the patch. Personally, I always played without the patch.

Now - asking for second CD - hmmm Bungleau may have some ideas on this.
Before you installed the patch - was the game asking for CD 2?? If it wasn't the solution may be to remove and reinstall the game avoiding the patch.

If the game asked you for CD2 before you installed the patch - we'll have to find another solution.

You cannot end the Mayor's quest - it goes on and on and on - so just stop bringing him skeleton skulls.
With the baubble stick - go near the Rat guy and go underwater - you should be able to see a key/crystal out of your reach - USE the stick - you should then get the key/crystal! (hurrah!)
Once you have it - examine the walls in the big room nearby.

You want to visit Rethpian's brother Bilbump to get a rat pie - Bilbump is found east northeast of Valeia.

Hope that helped - Wyv

Hmmm.... I've never seen or heard of a DVD version of the game either. Depending on how it was compiled, there could be a directory listing on the DVD that maps to each CD. If that's the case, you just need to point to those... somehow. Or you might burn them to CDs so that you can play.

I suspect that the patch probably breaks something that the DVD may have fixed, something that told it where to look for CD #2.

As for the other things, Wyvern has given you the good answers. Consider the mayor's quest to be an endless supply of XP and gold -- albeit in small increments. It never goes away, and after a certain point, I don't care any more. He doesn't offer enough to make me want to go back to Valeia for them.

Glad to hear your game is back up and running! Now... what was the fix? Was it removing the patch, or did you do something with the different directories? Inquiring minds want to know... so we can update the Tech Tips thread as needed
