Hi, could someone with Bard experience tell me if the class is worth changing to? I was thinking of changing my rogue to a bard, but then I realised that the ninja and bard both cast Moon spells. And obviously, the ninja is cooler. So now I'm wondering if there's any special use to the Bard.

Also, I've got a 10th level oomphaz priest whose working on getting all the Spirit spells. If I do so, is it still worth it to turn him into a monk? I plan to take him through Warlock first. I.e Priest - Warlock - Monk(?). Is this a good route? At what levels should I do so?

Thanks!!

I haven't made either of these changes yet, but recalling a post by someone a week back or so - they had changed to a bard but could find few instruments. Do you have any/many?? Maybe that will influence how you decide.

I've got a bard as we speak. As for instrument shortage. That makes about as much sense to me as it does to have a spider egg shortage? You can buy instruments in the pawn shoppe in Ishad Na and I have found two so far and Im only just now exploring west of ishad na. A bard is like a moon magic specialist wizard that can wear leather and use instruments to cast infinite magic spells. A very nice addition to the party if you ask me.

Infinite spells from instruments? Wow, I hadn't realised that. But I guess how good that is still depends on the spells. OK, other than the fact that they can play instruments, is the Bard worth it? I've got a ninja, who is also a moon specialist and with kung fu, etc. This seems better to me...?

I don't have any instruments yet (currently at Ishad), but I do know some can be bought.

Hi Wyv! Thanks for the message! You make this forum pretty sweet in atmosphere, if I may say so!

Ive got pipes of poison ( venom bite ) and flute of fumes ( flame spell ), there are others that cause fear, weakness, and heroic might on your teammates. Dont forget that a bard can wear better armor and become a decent fighter. My bard is currently armed with Shinwiki's spear since she used to use a witches stick when she was a wizard. I think this class will become very powerful with some time invested into it.

Bard: excellent choice for a rogue. Off the bat, you can get instruments that can cast Sleep (Lute of Tranquility), Dementia (Lyre of Madness), and Summon Creatures (Lyre of Illusion), in addition to Pipes of Poison (Venom Bite) and Pipes of Pain (Pain). Also, a Bard can fully master in Moon spells, and can learn Fiend spells at 1/2 level (therefore limited up to Level 6).

The way I've done my party so far is:

1. Warrior (3rd level) -> Paladin (10th level) -> Samurai (now at 17th level and climbing); may cast both Sun and Spirit
2. Warrior (3rd level) -> Paladin (11th level) -> Ninja (now at 17th level); may cast both Spirit and Moon
3. Rogue (9th level) -> Bard (17th level); may cast Moon and Fiend
4. Priest (11th level) -> Paladin (18th level); may cast Spirit and Vine
5. Wizard (13th level) -> Assassin (16th level); may cast Sun, Moon, Stone, and Fiend
6. Wizard (11th level) -> Warlock (17th level); may cast Sun, Moon, Stone, and Fiend

Most of them can cast at around level 6-8 Sorcery on their spells; giving them a great deal of firepower. The Paladin has Crusader trait, which allowed him to mop up XP in Skull Island (that's why he's a level higher than all the others). I may take my Warlock to Zenmaster, except from what I've heard that's so close to Endgame that it's almost ridiculous to do so...unless there's a sequel and we get to keep our characters? Hmmm...

Anyway, just my thoughts. So far, this party has been doing great.

I never had a shortage of instruments either just noted that some other players didn't seem to find as many as I did. I never bought one (primarily because I still haven't changed anyone to a Bard yet) but I have a "mule" in the inn who qualifies as a one man orchestra!! I'll have to do the Bard soon!
