Question Mark

The news story is found here.

Basically, Vincente Fox had made some comment about Mexican migrant workers being vital to the US economy because they would do jobs that, according to his own words, "not even blacks would do". Of course, someone who was not black was making a statement that included a reference to black people, so Jesse Jackson has taken offense and has gone to Mexico to meet with Presidente Fox.

One thing that needs to be said is that Sr. Fox is right--migrant workers do perform jobs that most Americans, blacks included, will not do. I would ask why so many people get upset when someone speaks an unpleasant or politically incorrect truth, but I just answered my own question.

Of course, Sr. Fox will support migrant workers (a polite term used for many who are simply illegal immigrants) because they send billions of U.S. dollars back to Mexico annually. That is a lot of money.

I am surprised Jackson would waste his time trying to call for an apology across the border like that, especially when I know how prejudice blacks are against Hispanics in my area at least. What a touchy guy!

If he wants to focus on something of importance, how about asking blacks to stop calling each other by the "N" word? My neighbors throw that slain at each other EVERY chance they can get. It is really ugly to hear...and I do not want my child thinking it is okay to use just because they do.

Jackson really needs some priority reform.

If I could have a dollar for every time a black defendant in child support told my wife he wasn't getting up to go to a job that only pays $8-$10 per hour, I'd be a wealthy man. Point being, Mr. Fox made an accurate statement, and he's sticking to it. Impressive politician -- too bad he'll probably lose the next election.

Note that I still don't want them crossing the border. They can follow procedure and migrate legally, as far as I'm concerned. Heck, most of them got 10 or 12 cousins over here already, so it shouldn't be too hard to immigrate. Of course, those wishes are pipe dreams, but I can have my Lou Dobbs dreams, can't I?

Actually I think its a statement the belittles blacks and his own people. That being said I'm for sending every Mexican back to...yes Mexico. They have utterly destroyed the construction industry. Yes thats what I do. Forgive me if I'm bitter.

Well President Fox should know better then to speak the truth, it's not just blacks, it's damn near all Americans. This country has become a pampered, bunch of nair-do-wells, that will spend 95% of their time complaining about something, and blaming others instead of getting off their collective rear ends and doing something. The work ethic has gone to "Hale" in a hand basket. There are a bunch of houses being built behind my parnet's house, the work is being done by Mexicans, instead of the local red necks that used to do the work. Why? because the Mexican are coming in on Saturday and working getting the job done. This is a town I grew up in and I know most of the contractors in town, I went to school with them, grew up with them. They'll tell you, no way you could get one of the red necks to come in on Saturday to work, "Hale" no they'd be out fishing instead of getting the job done, and wanting more money for less work.
I had an employee that wanted more money, but would only work 32-36 hours a week, I told him if he worked a full 40 hrs he would be making more money, then we could talk about a raise. He ended up leaving I was able to pick up the slack by only putting in a couple more hours myself and worked 10 hours a day. I learned a long time ago get the job done and you become valuble, piddle ass around and you become a liability. Businesses are in busines to make money, if they weren't they'd becalled Charities, not businesses.

Well, I don't really know much about this Jesse Jackson chap, but this is the second time he's made a media appearance that has caught my attention and both times I've felt the urge to throw things at him. Is he always this annoying?

Kudos for a plain-speaking politician, perhaps there is hope yet...

Yes, he is. He is one of those guys that saw how much fame and all came to others that got in front of a camera, so he is putting himself in front of a camera every chance he can get so that the media will immortalize him, and books will be written about him and all the so-called good deeds he did. He'd be useful, if he'd been born a hundred years earlier.

Question Mark

Jesse Jackson's number one problem is that he has always seen himself as Dr. Martin Luther King's successor and he has acted thusly. Unfortunately for Jesse, no one else ever has.

Yes, poor Presidente Fox is suffering for being a politician who said something on the record that is true. One would think he would have learned that lesson by now....

Yes but Foxs' comment were too limitting. As an educated official he should have been able to point to the majority of Americans not just one race.
I don't see the problem being with the illegal immigrants, as with the bussinesses that hire them. I've known a lot of illegal migrants and all of them were tax payers. But when companies hire without doing backgrounds and pay cash for labor, they create this opportunity. Without a market they wouldn't be here.

Just so you all know, it looks like Fox has done it again. For at least 10 minutes they flashed the logo: "Should the US Close Down Guantanamo Bay?" and they ranted about it like it was the new Abu Gharab.

I'd just like to point out something to the people of Fox news:

Guantanamo Bay is not a Prison Camp! It is a Naval Station! The oldest Naval Station! It exists because of FIDEL CASTRO and we are renting this land from him. Gtmo ( there is no "i" in "Guantanamo" ) houses workers, children, civillians, and it is NOT just a PRISON CAMP.

And with that being said it can be assumed that GTMO is NOT ABU GHARAB!

And the fact that its 200+ Year old legacy is being compared to a prison in some desert less than 3 years old offends me.

Grrr and stuff!
