If that's not your cup of tea, well I can honestly say that 'an hour a day can get you an A'. But seriously, who can fit in an hour a day nowadays? You've got movies, computer games, pubs, nightclubs, beautiful ladies. Seriously man, you'd have to be SUPERMAN to do what alot of these 'achievers' do Grow your hair long and just hang. S'way more fun.

9_1_6...
I finished my VCE like two years ago now, and i REALLY regret mucking about during year 12, I went out, played games, and generally didn't study as hard as I could've. I still got a reasonable mark, enough to get into 1st preference at uni, but still, i could've done better. Wait till you finish yr 12 dude, games will always be there for you , but yr 12 isn't =) Just concentrate on school man. Do your best and don't waste too much time. For serious

Obviously the amount you have to study depends on your course and on your year of study.
I'm in my 3rd year at the moment on a Computer Engineering degree. Over christmas I had 3 major assignments (several days of work each) as well as 6 exams to revise for. It's really a question of how much work you want to put in. In the first year I could get away with almost no study during the year, only before exams. 2nd year was much tougher and the 3rd year is harder still. So really you can get away with loads of gaming in 1st year, quite a lot in the 2nd year but not much in the 3rd year (final year for most people). I;ve got a 4th year to go aswell and this is gonna be even more work though fewer exams.

I reiterate what Vask said really, you can get away with murder in your first year if your course is anything like a UK one. After that the amount of work you put in really does determine your result. You can still get away with doing little, just not if you want to get a top mark. I'm probably looking at a 2:1 at present and I do moderate amounts of work. If you do little to no work I expect you could breeze a 2:2 or third (or US equivalent, which I don't know...). If you want a 1st though you really have to work for it.

I dunno if it's the same there for you as it is here, but Junior year (11th grade) counts more than senior year.. i know quite a few seniors that just hang out this year, to make up for all the cramming they did last year
personally, I'm a crammer. I have this bad habit of losing track of time when im doing something fun (ie- ironworks, gaming, etc ) luckily im a nite person tho, so i dont have to have alot of sleep all the time (once i went for 3 days straight without sleep definitely NOT suggesting you do that tho.. ^^; ) unfortunately its hard to stay awake during history next day, but eh well. I'm in all the honours and AP classes, and doing real well (still need to find out my gpa tho... never bothered keeping track... ^^; ) There are some days though that I'm just way over my head, and have to commit my day to hw. just make sure that you know when you're going to have one of those days.. EDIT- bah, stupid computer posted 3 times.. -.-; [ 01-09-2003, 12:15 AM: Message edited by: Skydracgrrl ] |
