I cannot find any DVD players that say they are compatible with Windows XP. I can only find them to say 98, NT, or ME. Any suggestions ?

Try them anyway. XP has a compatability mode so if it dosent work you can set it to emulate win98 in most respects. Read the help.
But XP also comes with a whole load of software pre-installed, so you might already have one. Have a look. But IIRC your running win98 anyway? Why the upgrade? Its hardly essential regardless of what Gates tells you.

I do not understand...how can I download software if I do not have a hardware drive to play the DVDs on?
Like, if I go buy a DVD in the store, but decide to watch it on my PC while MaryBeth is watching her Blue's Clues... How can downloadable software let me watch a DVD? Can you access movies from the net that are DVD formatted, kinda like the Internet radio stations?

Whoops, you mean the DVD-ROM drive?
Not really a problem - winXP uses the NT kernel, so anything NT compatable should work. And really when it comes to the actual mechanics of the interface DVD drives are 90% identical to CD drives, and they all work fine on XP.

About the 98 vs XP question...
I have been advised by many of the nice improvements in audio/video that XP offers. I think it will help reduce crashes with NWN, for one. I have a strong motherboard and looking to load it with RAM, and I am told taht 98 don't know what to do with all that power.
