I think it was stated by a Mage Conjurer by the name of
Edwin Odesseiron.

He is an NPC you will meet in a little town south of Beregost
called Nashkel and probable the most powerful NPC you can ever
get to join your team His alignment is Lawful Evil.
But its been over a year since I beat Baldur's Gate 1 so I
could be wrong about him saying the don't touch me line.

Nope, it isn'tEdwin. Although a statement like that is right in line with Edwin's personality. It is Kelddath Ormlyr, Governor of Beregost and high priest of Lathander's temple there (four hours to the east of Beregost, that is)

Many people here know a wealth of information about the game but I, for one, am subject to a serious brain cramp now and then if I'm on the boards when I really should be in bed already. I still need to pick up my booby prize for holding forth on when to dual class a halfling fighter to thief night before last, lol!

I would have told you that If I was online!!

And I have also noticed that Lemernis is a very clever boy!! But when I used to browse these boards, I was the guy that knew everything. I may have slipped a bit, but I'm still there and there abouts. Well done Lemernis!!!

I, too, would have got it if I was online. I DO tend to touch Kelldath and his Sirenes, but only to pickpocket them. But I do like his mood swings, when I'm bringing in a Holy Symbol or a Wyvern Head and he's "Welcome! The traveling adventurer is never turned away from a House of Lothander," And then I click him again and he's all "Don't touch me."

And yes, he does say it "Lothander," even though it's "Lathander" in BG2.

Is there any correlation between

1) Kelddath uttering that "Don't touch me, etc." line, combined with that maddening droning of the Sirenes, and poor rep and charisma on the one hand, and

2) Kelddath voicing his friendly, enthusiast welcome (I forget the exact line) and the Sirenes keeping their yaps shut, and high rep and charisma, on the other hand?

Or is it just random?
