Well for me id always used the nickname Simeo.
But I came here at the same time I started doing my Techno Music, I wanted soething new so I started using Sio under which to produce my music.
Since then my production name has changed from Sio to 'Pingu_Pi' and yes the under score is emant to be there, its part of my music name but the underscore isnt pronounced

One of my fav books - William Gibsons Neuromancer (I use this one when somebody else beats me with "Corwin" - from Amber series by Roger Zelazny) So, I guess books are main source of my nicknames.

An ex-girlfriend once told me that my heart was "as black as the ace of spades". I kept the moniker.

Cool place to get them from indeed.
The only quibbles I have with names from books is the really famous ones, like Gandalf or Aragorn.
The amount of Wizards in UO called Gandalf is staggering!! and pathetic

I've been called Bokken in r/l for longer than I can remember so on my first encounter with the internet about 3 years ago, I decided that was what I'll be known as online also. It has been that way in IW and everywhere else.
