I'm re-reading David Eddings 'The Belgariad' at the moment. And thought the people in the book might make a good party.
Has anyone got any suggestions on what classes I should choose? The people in the book to choose from are: Garion, a small boy (later to become Belgarion). Belgarath the Sorcerer, Polgara the Sorceress, Durnik a blacksmith, Silk a spy and thief, Barak a Cherek warrior, Hettar a Horse Lord, Lelldorin an archer, Mandorallen a Knight. Princess Ce'Nedra - a Dryads princess. Relg a 'religios' zealot, Taiba a slave. I think that's all the 'main' 'heros' I know I can't pick all of them. Any ideas plase? For me :
1 Durnik - Gadgeteer (Sword/Shield) 2 Silk - Rogue (Dual Dagger) 3 Mandorallen - Lord (Mace/Dagger) 4 Polgara - Mage 5 Lelldorin - Ranger (Polearm or Axe) 6 Belgarath - Bishop |

Anyway, I have a few questions/suggestions about this group: -Didn't Durnik use an axe in those books? -Mandorallen was a sword and shield user -Polgara probably should be a priest or bishop since she did the majority of the healing (if i am not mistaken), whereas Belgarath would be more of a mage or possibly even a psionic in my mind. -Lelldorin as a ranger is good, but i thought he used a sword as backup. Those first 5 books in the series were quite good, however, I found the sequel 5 books to be a rehash of the first series. Have fun with your Wiz 8 party!

[/QB]
Well Hello Spanky I’m glad someone else has read these as well!! I’m enjoying them. About your questions. - I think Durnik starts with a sword but changes to a club / cudgel to knock people out, he didn’t like to kill. In the second set he uses a Sledge hammer to kill the daemon lord. - Mandorallen I think used the sword and board, and lance when on his charger, before it breaks. - Pol, yes I think she did all the healing. - I’d though about psionic for Belgarath as well. - I can’t remember about Lelldorin, he’s only used his bow so far. - I’d also thought about using Relg as a monk? I think most of Eddings books are along the same lines, it has been said if you’ve read one you’ve read them all. But I really enjoy them, a good read, and well written.

The Belgariad was the best of the two. Eddings did another series about a magic using knight that was really good also and well worth reading I just can't remember what it was called.

Rats!! I was having fun with my party, was enjoying trying to role-play the party as in the books, and then boom, a virus attacked my computer
That will teach me not to have anti viruse or firewall on my machine. Does anyone know if there is a really good 'free' firewall and anti virus software anywhere? Cheers

Look into Kerio/Zone Alarm for firewalls and AVG/Avast for anti-virus. Links can be found by following my sig or just google for them. [ 08-21-2006, 08:54 AM: Message edited by: shamrock_uk ] |

Cheers Shamrock,
Not sure what is happening, the Hard Disk seems to be active all the time and it's running really slowly, so I don't want the computer on until I can install something to help. So I've put off playing for a bit. Hopefully it will be there once I sort the problems out.
