I was wondering people, if someone made a human make and leveled him up to some crazy level. With all the best equipment would it be possible for that mage to beat Irenicus by himself?

I tried with my maxed out fighter and I have to say I got whooped harshly, damn Abi Dizam's Horrid wilting.

If I were able to import Imoen or Aerie from Throne of Bhaal, I could easily take him with either one of them.

Yeah but that is Temple of Bahll, which is surely going to allow you a lot of unfair advantages against Irenicus.

Do you think there is a change a level 21 mage in BG2 with ideal equipment and NO SUMMON MONSTERS could defeat Irenicus.

Coz getting monsters to waste his spells isn't fair, I mean a HEAD TO HEAD 1 on 1, mano et mano, warrior vs warrior, u get the picture (i hope)

It must be possible without cheats as I have seen lots of posts from people who have soloed the entire game with characters as bizzare as a jester. It probably boils down to tactics and a lot of running away while spell effects wear off.

Irenicus is somewhere at lvl. 30, so that's probably what you need to be to beat him if you're a mage. If you have the cloak of Mirroring he's dead even if you're at level 17. You can probably take at even lower levels if you're a Wizard Slayer.

The first battle on the Tree, definitely. The second battle in hell, a mage may need some summons to get the Pit Fiends off of him/her. It is possible to do it without summons, but it would be a real pain...

Im not sure if you are talking about his first, or second form, but both are defeatable one-on-one easily by my kensai mage even before my new ToB powers and levels. Summon a hakeshear, let it play with him a bit, then pierce, breach, and go in with tensers transformation and utterly destroy him. Or ... be really cool and switch to slayer to kill the punkazz. The only difficulty would be the demons he summons as the second form. Give them a little sunray action with the daystar and that should do the trick.

Also, Ideals, use protection from magical energy on your fighter to be immune to Abi Dalzim's Wilting.

Yes it's possible. A mage with some decent protective spells is impossible to kill in the right hands. And you'd be surprised what a single timestop scroll combined with meteor swarm scroll can do. It won't win the battle for you, but it will give you an edge!

Irenicus is nothing. Any archmage (doesn't even necessarily have to be the exact level as Jon,) could destroy Jon using the right spells and a little bit of strategy.

And as far as the demons go, a clever mage with the right spells cast on him will never even be noticed by demons. They will attack Jonboy instead.
