Maybe a dumb question but how do you use the special traits of the characters. All my characters have dragon breath as the trait button/icon but it doesn't do anything even though each of my characters have special traits.

the dragon breath option is much later in the
game.
I have never used the breath, because it is
more of a trinket ablity

now I'm not the best person to respond, but
I think most of the traits are not that notisable.

Some traits you can pick to replace the "Dragon Breath" icon - such as Evil Eye - these are attack abilities and clicking on them during a battle will unleash their power.
Other traits just happen. If your character has the Crusade trait they automatically get more experience any time they are fighting against undead monsters.
Still other traits are needed to be able to repair items or identify items - both of these uses are done while in your inventory window.

Hope that helps!

To use forge and Identify right click the item to be altered, there are 2 tabs available. You will get a success or failure message depending on your skill and the difficulty of item

Erad, Dragon breath is gained by invoking the amulet 'heart of the dragon', found in the vault of skull castle. (Note that the amulet disappears after invoking, so no easy way to give it to more than 1 char.)
